Summary of the experiences and competences of Tuba
Assist. Prof. Dr. Tuba Unsal Ozguvenc (Istanbul University, Institute of Marine Science and Management) gained her PhD in Biology/Industrial Microbiology-Corrosion. She is a well experienced in microbiological assays (e.g. Bacterial enumeration techniques, spectrophotometric analysis (Protein and carbohydrate), materials characterization techniques, corrosion mechanisms, electrochemical techniques for studying corrosion; biofilm mitigation tests, worked for 15 years on MIC related topics including two years at Ohio University, Institute for Corrosion & Multiphase Technology, (The largest research facility in the world in the field of corrosion of oil and gas pipelines) USA. She has worked as a principal investigator in various MIC projects for companies in USA. Also, she has published many articles in journals with a high-impact factor in this field.
Dr. Tuba Unsal Ozguvenc is a member of Review Board of Industrial Biotechnology. (Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology) and Guest Co-Editor of Frontiers In Metals and Alloys, 2023, and working as a reviewer for other SCI journals.

Although MIC is a rapidly growing field worldwide, the number of scientists working in this field in the world is very limited because working in this field requires both serious microbiology and engineering knowledge. I can help people to understand MIC under microbiology and biotechnology-engineering perspective. Also I can help the application and assessment of electrochemical and microbiological assays (such as aerobic and anaerobic culture methods, isolation and culture methods in particular sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB)) related MIC. I am open to collaborate on projects that focus on MIC. I’d like to host young career researchers, including post-doctoral fellows and students on PhD, master levels.
