Guangming is a member within the Euro-MIC COST framework. This project is funded by the European Union and enables scientists to bridge knowledge and capabilities across countries and disciplines.

Summary of the experiences and competences of Guangming

I was awarded my PhD in Environmental Engineering at The University of Queensland, Australia. Also, I completed a Master of Applied Science in Environmental Microbiology (Lincoln University, NZ), and a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering (Harbin Institute of Technology, China).

I have broad research interests in wastewater treatment processes, environmental health, wastewater pathogens, wastewater-based epidemiology, microbiologically influenced corrosion, bioconcrete, and modelling. I published 120+ SCI journal papers, primarily in top journals like Water Research, Environmental Science & Technology. My previous research outcome has led to a fully commercialized technology through USP Technologies Ltd. in the USA. Also, I provide consulting and testing services to some major wastewater infrastructure projects like Singapore Deep Tunnel Sewerage System and Auckland Interception Sewer.

I hold the following journal editorial roles:
1. Associate editor of Water Research (IF:13.4, Nature Index Journal); Editor of Journal of Water Process Engineering (IF=7.34, Q1 journal); Associate editor of iScience (IF=6.107, Q1 journal); Associate editor of Journal of Environmental Engineering (ASCE) (IF=2.479);
2. Editorial board member of Journal of Hazardous Materials (IF=14.224, Q1), Environment International (IF:13.352, Q1) and International Journal of Hygiene and Environmental Health (IF=7.401, Q1).
3. Lead editor of Water (MDPI, IF:3.103) Special Issue: Pathogen Detection and Identification in Wastewater
