Information  from Jan

Jan is a member within the Euro-MIC COST framework. This project is funded by the European Union and enables scientists to bridge knowledge and capabilities across countries and disciplines.

Summary of the experiences and competences of Jan

I am enthusiastic university professor with background in metallurgy and electrochemistry dealing with corrosion issues. My focus on MIC is partial and it has started in 2015 by necessity to evaluate influence of microbial corrosion on lifetime of the canister for spent nuclear fuel. Thus, me and my team, we are focused mostly on MIC in this specific environment.

Our Department of Metals and Corrosion Engineering can offer standard material analyses (e.g. electrochemical techniques, metallographic evaluation, analyses in solid and liquid phase). Our unique skill consist in preparation of resistometric probes (ER probes) of very rare composition, including pure metals (Ag, Cu, Fe, Zn, Sn, Pb) as well as alloys (stainless steel, bronze, brass, ….).
