Summary of the experiences and competences of Václav

I have helped found new group of Metallic Materials in 2015 and have been working as depute head for the last 5 years. The group now has 12 workers, and most of our projects come from cooperation with industry. MIC-related activities started in 2017 when we were approched by an oil company to help with significant corrosion occurring on their equipment. Ever since, MIC research has been one of our many activities. In 2023, I participated in MIC Summer Shool in Prague where I had to chance to meet experts with different backgrounds. This has been tremendously helpful as there is a large gap between materials experts such as myself and micro-biologists. Since then, I have been in contact with number of presenters and participants and we keep advancing the discussion and trying to come with approach to provide conclusive answers to the end users.

My background is material science and corrosion and I have been active in this field for over a decade. I welcome new and challenging ideas with the goal to advance the MIC field. Due to long and close collaboration with industry, we can also provide large network of users with field experience for discussion.
So far, our group has mainly dealt with MIC in water distribution network, oil&gas network, specifically pipelines, crude storage and also natural gas-storage facilities.
