Summary of the experiences and competences of Stefan
Dr. Stefan Jansen holds a PhD in Environmental Chemistry at Wageningen University. He has more than twenty years of experience as a researcher. He focuses on chemical and microbiological conversions in the environment, including microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC). He works for Deltares, an independent institute for applied research in the field of water, subsurface and infrastructure. His work on MIC involves development and testing of in situ monitoring techniques for MIC and application in the laboratory and the field, with the eventual aim to better predict the occurrence of MIC and the success of protective measures. He has given advice on corrosion rates and consequences for design and maintenance in several applied projects related to natural gas pipelines, sheet piling and offshore wind monopiles.
Stefan Jansen has worked both in the role of scientific researcher, advisor as well as project leader. He has supervised several MSc students and has published various peer-reviewed papers.
Looking for help? Stefan can help you with the following items
MIC: influences of environmental conditions and countermeasures such as coatings and cathodic protections.
Assessment of MIC risk, troubleshooting and mitigation for various infrastructure types, e.g. pipelines, offshore wind turbines, sheet pilings.
