Judit Knisz, PhD is a senior research scientist at the University of Public Service, Faculty of Water Sciences, Baja, Hungary. Her research focuses on biodegradation and biodeterioration in the built environment, including microbiologically influenced corrosion and organic micropollutant degradation in wastewater treatment systems. She has more than 7 years of experience in the field of MIC including detection and monitoring of MIC in cooling water systems and the analysis of MIC related microorganisms. She is a member of the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP), the International Biodeterioration and Biodegradation Society (IBBS) and the Hungarian Corrosion Association (HUNKOR).

Role of University of Public Service in Euro-MIC

Judit Knisz is member of the management committee and leads Working Group (WG) 1 – Intersectoral bridging. Her aim is to help achieve the goals of WG1 and the Euro-MIC project in general. Her main goals include critically reviewing the status quo of MIC, organizing meetings with stakeholders of various industrial sectors and academia to build trust, encouraging interactions as well as establishing common language and terminology to advance the field of MIC.
